Candidate privacy notice: Interview Buddy Recruit
Version recruit-notice-2026-10-29.1 · Last updated 29 October 2026
Who is involved
When an employer invites you to an interview through Interview Buddy Recruit, the employer is collecting your information to decide about your application. Interview Buddy runs the interview for them and handles your information on their behalf.
What we collect
Your name and email address (given to us by the employer), your answers to any screening questions, and a written transcript of the interview questions and your answers.
If you speak your answers, your voice is turned into text as you talk by Microsoft Azure Speech in Australia. The audio is not stored. There is no video recording and no face analysis.
We also note a few events for the reviewer, such as when you opened your link, started, finished, reconnected, left the interview tab or pasted text. These are never an automatic fail.
How AI is used
A virtual interviewer asks the questions. After the interview, an AI model (Microsoft Azure OpenAI) summarises the evidence in your answers against the skills the employer chose, and quotes your own words. It is told to judge only what you said, not your accent, grammar, delivery or anything about who you are.
The AI does not make the decision. A person at the employer reads your answers and decides. Nothing is rejected automatically.
Your feedback
After the interview you get a short feedback report written for you (strengths and tips). It is not your result and does not include ratings.
Where it is stored and for how long
Your information is stored in Australia. Results are kept for 1 year, then deleted automatically. You can ask the employer (or us) to delete your information sooner, and the employer can erase it at any time.
Who sees it
The employer's hiring team. Interview Buddy staff only access it to provide and support the service. We do not sell it, and it is never used for Interview Buddy practice or shared with other employers.
Adjustments and choices
You can type your answers instead of speaking. You can ask the employer for more time, no time limit, or an interview with a person instead, using the link on the first page of your interview. If you do not agree to the interview, you can ask the employer for another way to apply.
Your rights
You can ask to see or correct your information, or ask for it to be deleted, by contacting the employer or us. If you are unhappy with how your information was handled, contact us first; you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Contact
Email contact@interviewbuddy.com.au and include the employer's name and the email address your invitation was sent to.
